Process Improvement

A continual improvement process is an ongoing effort to improve products, services or processes.  These efforts can seek incremental improvement over time or improvement all at once.

Provide evidence that the organisation has a process for ensuring continued improvement in WHS performance, example documentation includes (but not limited to):

  • WHS monitoring/review of WHS,
  • Positive incident reporting culture,
  • KPI’s and
  • Trend analysis

A documented procedure to address continual improvement developed in accordance with AS/NZS 4804:2001 4.5.3 Continual Improvement:

The continual improvement process should—

(a) Identify areas of opportunity for improvement of the OHSMS which lead to improved OHS performance;

(b) Determine the root cause or causes of non-conformance or deficiencies;

(c) Develop and implement plans of corrective and preventive action to address the root causes;

(d) Verify the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive actions;

(e) Document any changes in procedures resulting from process improvement; and

(f) Make comparisons with objectives and targets.
