Rules for renewal of SME competency:
In accordance with Engineering Competency Management Procedure, all employees who undertake an assessment must be reassessed every three [3] years. This same rule applies to Subject Matter Experts. In order to ensure each SME is continuing their own professional development – for example, maintaining chartered status, continuing CPD requirements, undertaking further training, keeping up-to-date with their engineering discipline / practice – SME’s will be reviewed and reassessed every three years also.
Expectations Upon Reassessment | Accepted Evidence:
The Rail General Manager can sign and date the original SME Letter of Endorsement to verify that the justification / reassessment has taken place. Accountability will be with the Rail GM to make this determination. The National Technical Training Team will re-upload this letter to be verified, as per the Rail GM’s assessment. Additional evidence (*such as further training & development, certificates, qualifications) gained throughout that three year timeframe will also be uploaded against the SME’s profile.
