Induction Training & Competencies

Supply evidence of an induction process and records, training register and training review process.

An Induction Policy should include (but not limited to):

  • The commitment of the business to providing induction training to employees and others working at the site
  • The responsibilities of various people within the business who will provide the induction training, such as managers and supervisors
  • Resources that may be needed for the induction training / program
  • Signature of senior management, and a date of commencement

An Induction procedure should include (but not limited to):

  • A clear process of how the training works within the organisation
  • Who will be responsible for which processes
  • Explanation of the induction process
  • Actions required throughout the induction process
    • Before the induction
    • Induction day
    • Process outline
    • Trainer
    • Content
    • Hazardous chemicals (if applicable)
    • Construction work (if applicable)
    • Manual Handling
    • Assessment
    • Records
    • Follow-up

Supply evidence of a training process; including how your organisation manages internal and external training. Evidence of this will include completed training registers of matrices. 

 

 Employee Skills Register

A documented procedure to ensure skills needs analysis and training records are implemented and maintained developed in accordance with AS/NZS 4801:2001 4.4.2 Training and Competency. The register should identify each employee’s current accreditation, inclusive of external qualifications, internal inductions, training, the training in SWMS/JSA’s or equivalent and applicable expiry dates. It should be reviewed regularly to ensure it is updated in compliance with legislative requirements.

 Formalised Induction Process for Employees / Workers

A documented induction process within your organisation, compliant with AS/NZS 4801;2001 4.4.2 Training and competency where it references practical guidance stating OHS training is typically provided at certain key times in an operational cycle including— (1) at induction for employees. The induction should also include and cover and company policies and procedures, SWMS/JSA’s or equivalent and any expectations placed on the new employee.
